          LaGina Veronique Bridges was born to Milton and Ernestine Bridges in Durham, NC.    Although she was born in North Carolina, she was raised in Brooklyn, New York.    Following her graduation from high school there, she returned  here and attended North Carolina Central University in Durham for a short time.

            Gina (as we affectionately call her), decided the US Air Force was her calling.   She enlisted and served in many roles and at various locations during her 20+ year career.   She began her military service at Stewart AFB in Newburgh, NY.   She spent the balance of her career at New York Air National Guard Headquarters in Latham, NY.     Being an avid learner, she pursued training in many different disciplines throughout her career   She retired from the Air Force and accepted another job of service with the Federal Government in the Baltimore-Metro area; and she continued to work in this capacity.   At the time of her death she was employed by the Department of the Navy as an Information Security Specialist.

            Gina is known in the family for being fun-loving.  Most recently the fun has been focused on her two grandchildren, upon whom she doted.

            Gina was preceded in death by her younger sister, Tonya Linette Bridges.    She leaves to mourn her loss, daughters Alyssa Bridges and  DeNaja Slaughter of Half Moon, New York; her parents, Milton and Ernestine Bridges of Wendell, NC,  grandchildren Evon Hahn and Jazmiah Bridges of Half Moon, New York; 6 Aunts – Vivian McCullers of Zebulon, NC; Shirley Grant of Tampa, FL; Nova Bridges of Clayton, NC; Dianne Williamson of Wendell, NC; Louise Bridges of Clayton, NC; Meshelder Richardson of Middlesex, NC; 3 Uncles – Melvin Bridges of Clayton, NC; Kenneth Richardson of Wendell, NC; Gregory Richardson of West Columbia, SC; a very special friend, Major Wendell Garlic of Baltimore, MD: and a multitude of cousins too numerous to mention here, along with multiple other family and friends.

To Gina…..

For 52 years we had you here.

We still hold those old memories dear.

Your radiant smile will stay in our hearts;

And the love we have for you will never depart.

Life continues for those you left behind.

Maybe we’ll meet again in the fullness of time.

For now we wish you a fond farewell.

Rest in peace at your heavenly hotel.

                                                                      Aunt Dianne
