John Wesley Blackmon, 70, of Clayton, NC passed Friday, May 19, 2017. Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at St. Augustines AME Church, Clayton, NC. Burial will be at Sandhills Veterans Cemetery, Spring Lake, NC. A public viewing will be from 11:30 am to 1:00pm at the church. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ida Blackmon, Clayton, NC; his mother, Magnolia Blackmon of Clayton; son, John Blackmon, Jr. of Butner, NC; daughter, Felicia Murrell (Doug) of Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren, Brittany Murrell of Dallas, TX; Shaniqua Frierson of Asheville, NC; London Blackmon of Marion, NC; Tre' Murrell, Chaya Murrell and Jeremiah Murrell of Atlanta, GA; one great grandson; four sisters, Clarastine Rowland, Juanita Hinton, Irene Strickland, and Fran Blackmon of Clayton; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family would also like to acknowledge the brother and sister we adopted through love into our home and their families: Evelyn (Trey) Outlaw; daughter, Chantel and London (Denise) McAllister; children: Tellahia, London, Amari, Savion; grandson, Koa.
