Ms. Cheryl Denton, 73, Wendell, NC, departed this life on Friday, June 12, 2026. Cheryl was born on May 10,1953 in Fall River, Massachusetts to Robert E. Rushton and the
late Louise C. (Silva) Rushton.
Cheryl will be remembered for her devotion to her family.
She enjoyed baking and doing arts and crafts with her
grandchildren. She was a gifted artist and musician and was known
for her quick wit and sense of humor.
Cheryl was the loving wife and best friend to Paul R. Denton
for 34 years. Together, they enjoyed camping, antiquing, dining
out, concerts, and caring for their beloved dog, Henry.
Cheryl is survived by her father, Robert E. Rushton; two
daughters, Rebecca L. Jackson of Jacksonville, North Carolina,
Cherilyn Burgo (Jack) of John's Creek, Georgia, one son, Paul R.
Denton Jr. of West Warwick, Rhode Island; four siblings, Lynne
Hardy (the late Curtis of Somerset, Massachusetts, Robert G.
Rushton (Candace) of Somerset, Massachusetts, Theresa Ahmed
(the late Kenneth) of Wildwood, Florida, Todd L. Rushton (Karen)
of Wendell, North Carolina; seven grandchildren and several
nieces and nephews.
Cheryl was a 1971 graduate of Joseph Case High School in
Swansea, Massachusetts.
Cheryl attended UMass Dartmouth and was a graduate of
New England Institute of Technology in Warwick, Rhode Island
with a degree in Graphic Design.
Cheryl was employed by Cranston Printworks in Rhode
Island for over 20 years before working as a graphic artist at
Hodges Badge Company in Portsmouth, Rhode Island for 9 years.
Cheryl was : cherished member of Grace Reformed
Presbyterian Church in Smithfield, North Carolina.
